Jill Gerber went to massage school in 1987 because she wanted to find a way to help the world be a better place, and touching people in a nurturing, therapeutic fashion seemed like a fabulous way to do so. She turned out to love it, and still does, and has been a full-time bodyworker every since. In 1992, Jill founded High Desert Healthcare & Massage with four friends to provide a place for excellent therapists to offer bodywork in a peaceful, happy environment.
She became certified as a practitioner of Rolfing® Structural Integration in 1996, an Advanced Rolfer® in 2002 and a Certified Rolf Movement Practitioner® in 2005.
Jill completes two continuing education workshops per year with a Doctor of Osteopathy and is certified in Myofascial Therapy. She is also enrolled in certification programs for Biodynamic Cranial Sacral Therapy, Visceral Manipulation, and Neural Manipulation. She has taken a wide variety of continuing education classes in the field of manual therapy, and all of these workshops, along with her Rolfing training, has given her the tools to work with a myriad of conditions. Her practice currently has a balance she loves of half Rolfing and half massage. Within that, roughly half of the massage is relaxing, full-body therapeutic massages, and the other half is more focused on chronic or acute problem areas needing more-concentrated therapy than is possible in a full-body massage.
I’m over 80 years old with a body that just doesn’t want to keep up. But week after week, Jill (and sometimes Karen when Jill takes a much needed break) brings me back into line-top to toes, and I’m ready to face the coming week. Close to miraculous!”
The whole crew is professional and a pleasure to deal with. The help Jill has given me with chronic hip and lower back pain has gotten me moving again, when traditional medicine could not help at all. I highly recommend High Desert.”
I’ve been a client here since 1993, and Jill’s excellent bodywork and support has sustained me through fibromyalgia and other challenges in life, for which I am eternally grateful. I cannot imagine life without this healing place—it is truly a jewel!”
